Tribhuvan University offers Master of Arts (MA) in Population Studies in Central Campus, Central Department of Population Studies and its constituent and affiliated colleges.
The MA courses also build upon the advanced level courses at the Master of Philosophy in Population Studies being introduced in 2007. Some new courses have been introduced such as gender, poverty, human development, Millennium Development Goals and their interrelationships with population dynamics. Internal assessment has been introduced.
Objectives of the course:
- To provide students with a broad knowledge of the concepts in population studies with related theories and models as well as the emerging concepts in Demography
- To make students familiar with statistical methods and techniques in population studies
- To make students familiar with demographic techniques for population analysis and equip them in demographic analysis
- To enable students to demonstrate advanced knowledge of approaches to the study of population and to identify causes of population change
- To equip students with critical insights to assess and apply the knowledge in population, health planning and programming
